The Law of the Street (Original title: Street Justice ) is an American crime and action series , which was produced from 1991 to 1993 by Stephen J. Cannell . It's about the policeman Adam Beaudraux and his best friend, the martial artist Grady Jameson. In North America the series was distributed by syndication , while in Germany it was shown first on Sat. 1 , later on Kabel 1 .

prehistory

As a soldier in the Vietnam War, Adam Beaudreaux met the eight-year-old orphan Grady Jameson, whose parents had been shot. When Adam is injured, Grady saves him. Then Adam takes care of the boy. When the Americans withdraw, he has to go back to the USA, but he cannot take Grady with him. Adam promises to come back and get him, but it doesn't come to that.

20 years later, Adam is still looking for Grady and making serious accusations. He is now a police officer and co-owner of the “Malloy's” bar. The bar belonged to his late partner Dennis Malloy and is run by his daughter Malloy. Malloy has no first name because her parents couldn't agree.

Grady ended up in a children's home and then went to look for the murderer of his parents. For stealing food, he ended up in prison where he learned martial arts. In Adam's hometown he finds the murderer and wants to kill him. But Adam prevents him and then asks him to stay with him. Grady works and lives in the bar from there and also works as a martial arts teacher. Adam also tries to help gang member Miguel Mendez and takes him in for a while.

Course of action

Since Grady in particular sometimes has problems with the law, Adam often has to make sure that he does not get into too much trouble. But even Adam doesn't always take it exactly and sometimes circumvents legality together with Grady.

In the first episodes the two have to deal with allegations and feelings of guilt. Grady has lost his trust in other people and Adam wants to protect him too much, which often leads to arguments. There are also fights in which Grady uses his martial art and Adam uses his fists. They often help victims in need and protect them from their opponents. Grady sometimes teaches them self-defense.
