from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Denis P. Lenoir (born February 1949 in Paris ) is a French cameraman .

Life

Born in Paris, Denis P. Lenoir studied medicine for two years after completing his degree in art history at the École du Louvre , studying less medicine than watching over 1000 films during this period and discovering his love for cinema. Instead of taking up a position as an English teacher at a school, he decided to study at the École Louis-Lumière film school . Lenoir originally wanted to be a director. He therefore paid little attention to camera work and only after completing his studies did he take a job as a camera assistant out of necessity. At first he showed neither talent nor particular interest in this work. There were commissions for advertising films and the work on how light affects moving pictures ( movie pictures ), which led Lenoir to increasingly examine the possibilities of the film camera.

Lenoir made French feature films for the first time in the mid-1980s. From the mid-1990s he moved to Los Angeles , where he made films such as Thursday - A Murderous Day , 88 Minutes and Short Trial - Righteous Kill . However, he remained in French films and recently made films such as Paris, je t'aime , The Sleeping Beauty and Carlos - The Jackal . Lenoir has made 7 films with Olivier Assayas so far .
