action

Molly Morris is a young, shrewd private investigator who dropped out of high school to help her father, Sam, a former cop, with his financial hardship due to a gambling addict. When Molly spies on a truck driver, she is approached by FBI agent Armon Ranford, who wants to offer her a job. Molly is said to be smuggled undercover into a student union and seek information about Alex Patrone. She has hidden secret documents from her father, who is supposed to testify against a former gangster. Molly refuses the assignment, but changes her mind when she learns that her father has gambled away thousands of dollars. Armon prepares her for her mission and Bizzy gives her new clothes and styles. She is also given a new identity as Brook Stonebridge.

On her first day at college , she meets fraternity sister Sasha Stolezinsky, who allegedly modeled in Croatia . She also meets Alex and she pretends to have gone to a camp together. She shares a room with Becky Slotsky, who just doesn't feel like the other sisters any more than Molly. On the same day, she meets the charming biker Nicholas Dexter, who rides a rare motorcycle that Molly knows. Nicholas is amazed and believes that she is not a student. Molly says no and runs away. Over time, Molly becomes more and more popular with her sisters, something Sasha doesn't miss. She gives Molly a bracelet as a token of her solidarity. The next morning, Cotton Roberts identified this bracelet as her own. Sasha subjects Molly to kleptomania and shows the other Molly's room, which consists of stolen valuables from the other students.

Meanwhile, she receives the assignment to get to know Nicholas, who is friends with Alex, better. The two go out and Molly learns a lot about him. The two kiss goodbye, and Molly has to admit that she has fallen in love with Nicholas. At the same time, Molly gets closer to Alex and learns that she is having an affair with Professor Talloway. Armon also tells her that Bizzy was murdered and that a traitor is up to mischief on campus. Molly tells Armon what she has found out so far and wants information on Sasha because she believes she is not telling the truth. Molly sneaks into Sasha's room and finds a year book there. She confronts Sasha with the knowledge that she is really Suzy Walters. Suzy / Sasha confesses this and asks Molly not to say anything, as she used to be an unpopular outsider and is now finally living her dream. Molly just wants her to tell the others the truth about the stolen things. So does Suzy / Sasha and confesses that she suffers from kleptomania.

The next time she meets Armon, she learns that Nicholas is the traitor. Molly does not want to believe this at first, but is then convinced otherwise by Armon. At a party, she confronts him, but he has no idea what Molly is talking about. She's so mad that she knocks out Nicholas. She sees Alex getting into a car, driving away and being followed by another car. Molly grabs Nicholas' motorcycle and drives after them. She comes to Professor Talloway's house and finds documents that show that Talloway is from the FBI. Shortly afterwards she is attacked by a stranger who manages to escape. Molly immediately realizes that Armon is not an FBI agent, but the traitor. She finds Talloway injured, who tells her that Armon kidnapped Alex. Molly contacts Armon and tells him that she has the documents. She meets with him on campus, but Armon manages to get Molly under his control. In the dormitory there is a fight between Armon and Molly, in which Nicholas and Molly's father also interfere. The latter succeeds in overpowering Armon.

In the end, Molly decides to keep going to college and her father gets his job as a cop back. She and Nicholas become a couple, and Molly also works as a private investigator for the Student Association.
