The Tulane University ( English Tulane University , shortly TU ) is a private, non -denominational University in New Orleans in the US state of Louisiana .
It was founded in 1834. The university is a member of the Association of American Universities , an association of leading research-oriented North American universities that has existed since 1900.
As the largest university alongside Louisiana State University , the University of New Orleans , Loyola University , Xavier University and Dillard University, Tulane University is an important research and training center for the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. The university offers typical US university education, a variety of graduate programs as well as education and training for the population of the city of New Orleans.
history
The originally state university was not restructured and privatized until 1884. In the course of this, it was given its current name, after the wealthy businessman Paul Tulane, who left the university with more than 1 million US dollars after his death.
Freeman School of Business
The Freeman School of Business , founded in 1914, currently offers more than 1,500 students undergraduate, MBA and other Masters courses as well as doctoral and executive education programs. In the finance sector, the Freeman School is particularly known for the Burkenroad Reports and, according to the Financial Times, is regularly among the ten best universities in this field. Further, the leads entrepreneur magazine , the device is stable at the 20 leading universities for management ; in 2009 even in fourth place.
Annually, leading financial and M&A practitioners from across the United States come to Tulane to attend the Tulane Corporate Law Institute Forum . The Freeman School of Business was named after Alfred B. Freeman , a former chairman of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and a prominent philanthropist from New Orleans.

The sports teams at Tulane University are the Tulane Green Wave . The university has been a member of the American Athletic Conference since 2014 .
