Before producing and writing the television series Entourage, he was a writer for the series Bonnie (2002-2004). Ellin also wrote screenplays for three films: Kissing a Fool , Hip Hop Holiday (Phat Beach) and The Waiter , which he also directed. Shortly afterwards he moved from New York to Los Angeles , where he worked as a stand-up comedian in The Improv and The Comedy Store , among others . He was working on a new series for HBO about hedge fund managers and their friends and colleagues. Doug Ellin said in an interview at the season 4 finale of Entourage that the pilot episode will be made by the writers of Ocean's 13 once they are done with their current project. In a recent interview, however, he said that the hedge fund had died - the writers are concentrating on other projects. So Ellin decided to put the series on hold until he finished working on Entourage. In the same interview, he said that he expects the show to be eight years (with season 5 starting in September 2008).
