The Loyola University New Orleans ( Latin : Universitas Loyolaae Neo Aurelianensis ) is a Jesuit college in New Orleans , Louisiana , USA . Today's university emerged from Loyola College (1886–1912) and Loyola University (1912–1996), which was founded in 1904 and officially opened in 1912. It is named after Ignatius of Loyola .
