Santa Clara University is a private, Catholic University of Santa Clara in the US state of California . The college is one of the 28 Jesuit colleges in the United States that are organized in the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities . The university was founded in 1851, making it the oldest operating college in California and the oldest Catholic university in the American West. The university was rated as the second best college in 2010 in the West region by the well-known US News Ranking. Along with Stanford and Berkeley, it is the most popular university in California's Silicon Valley. About Santa Clara University

The university is located in Santa Clara (population: 116,468), next to San José in Santa Clara County (population: 1.8 million), which makes up most of the San Francisco Bay Area . JST is one of two Jesuit seminars in the United States with ecclesiastical faculties ratified by the Vatican for Catholic Teaching.
