California Lutheran University

The California Lutheran University ( CLU ) is a private university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in the city of Thousand Oaks in Ventura County , California , ( USA ).

The CLU was founded in 1959 by the Swedish immigrant Pederson family as California Lutheran College. In 1986 the name was changed to "University". Today, around 4,000 students study in the College of Arts and Sciences with 36 majors, the School of Management and the School of Education, a third of which are in Masters and MBA programs. The faculty consists of 154 full-time and 202 part-time lecturers. Despite the annual tuition fee of almost $ 33,000, the rush is considerable, but just under half of all applicants (2010: 47.2%) are accepted. US News and World Report ranks the university 18th among regional universities in the western United States.
