The University of San Diego (also known as USD ) is a private, Catholic university in San Diego in the US state of California . About 8,000 students are registered.

history

The origin goes back to two universities. Firstly, the San Diego College for Women , founded in 1949 , which began teaching in 1952. The other is the University of San Diego , founded in 1954 , a college for men. In 1972 the two universities merged and have since formed what is now the University of San Diego.

Sports

The USD sports teams are called the toreros . The university is a member of the West Coast Conference .
