The California State University, Sacramento (also known as Sacramento State or Sac State known) is a state university in Sacramento in the US state of California . With 27,972 students, it is the largest college in Sacramento. The university is part of the California State University system.

history

Sacramento State was founded in 1947 as Sacramento State College . In 1972 the college became part of the California State University system and was given its current name. Since 2004, the school has only been marketed under the name Sacramento State .

Sports

The Sacramento State sports teams are the Hornets . The university is a member of the Big Sky Conference .
