California State University, Long Beach
The California State University, Long Beach (also Long Beach State , Cal State Long Beach , CSULB , LBSU or The Beach called) is a state university in Long Beach in Los Angeles County , State of California . With 34,863 students, it is one of the largest colleges in the California State University system.
history
Cal State Long Beach was founded in 1949 as the Los Angeles-Orange County State College . Renamed California State College at Long Beach in 1962 , by 1966 20,000 students were enrolled. In 1972 it was given its current name.
Sports
The Cal State Long Beach sports teams are called The 49ers , unofficially also The Beach . The college is a founding member of the Big West Conference .
