Evan Michael Longoria , nickname Longo , (born October 7, 1985 in Downey , California ) is an American baseball player for the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball (MLB). Longoria was signed by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2006 MLB Draft , made his debut in 2008 and played there at third base until 2017 before moving to the Pacific coast the following year.

Longoria won the American League's Rookie of the Year award in 2008 . He is considered to be one of the best runs batted in hitters in the league: he only needed 135 games to beat his 100th teammate home, which is the third lowest number among players still active.

In his still short career he was able to achieve further success in 2009 by winning a Gold Glove for special defensive achievements. Longoria was called up in each of his three MLB years in the all-star game for the American League .

Longoria is often the target of good-natured ridicule because of its similarity to the actress Eva Longoria .

On the last day of the 2012 season in a 4-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles , he managed three home runs in three attempts to strike. Only Gus Zernial Chicago White Sox (1950) and Dick Allen Philadelphia Phillies (1968) managed to do this on a final day . He has now hit a home run for the sixth time on a final day of the game. Only Stan Musial succeeded in this as well.
