Third baseman point of view

The third baseman , abbreviated 3B (German: third baseman ) is a field position in baseball . It is taken by the player who is on third base . In the official baseball notation, the third baseman is "number 5".

The third baseman covers third base and stands in the zone where right-handed batter often hits. Therefore, a third baseman must be able to reliably catch or process hard hits and master both the short throw to the second baseman and the long throw to the first baseman . Third basemen are almost always right-handed, as it is difficult for left-handed players to pick up a ball and throw it to the left (i.e. to first or second base) in the same movement.
