Kyle Bailey (born March 10, 1982 in Fairbanks , Alaska ) is a retired American basketball player and now the video coordinator for the basketball teams at Santa Clara University .
Career
The 1.89 m and 89 kg guard began his active career while studying with the Broncos at Santa Clara University . There he broke several records: he played the most games (127), had the most minutes of play (3,897) and made the most throws from the three-point distance (679). He hit 225 of them, making him the university's second best three-point thrower.
After graduating with a degree in philosophy , he played in the NBA Development League for the Florida Flames . In 2005 he was almost signed by the NBA team of the San Antonio Spurs , but failed as one of the last players. Instead, he moved to Germany in 2006 to the BG 74 in Göttingen , where he was promoted to the basketball league with this club . Furthermore, in the same year he received the award of Most Valuable Player of the 2nd North Basketball League .
For the 2007/08 season he moved to the first division competitor ratiopharm Ulm . There he was active in the position of point guard and replaced Austen Rowland . In March 2008 his engagement in the Danube city ended. In the 2008/09 season he went back to basket hunting for the BG 74 Göttingen, which in the meantime operated as MEG Göttingen. The season was a complete success and the Göttingen team reached the play-offs in their second first division season . But in the quarterfinals they were defeated by the Brose Baskets Bamberg.
For the 2009/2010 season, Bailey signed a contract for one year until the end of the 2009/2010 season with EnBW Ludwigsburg in the basketball division . However, he did not manage to build on the performance of previous years, and he scored an average of 8.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 21 games. On February 16, 2010 it was announced that EnBW Ludwigsburg and Bailey agreed on an immediate termination of the contract after coach Öngören had committed to teammate TJThompson as playmaker.
In the 2010/2011 season, Bailey was again active at the BG Göttingen. After he was initially not in the squad at the beginning of the 2011/12 season , his contract was reactivated after the second game. After the 2011/2012 season, his contract was not renewed.
Kyle Bailey has been the video coordinator for the Santa Clara University basketball teams since 2013 .
