Thomas Hale Boggs (born February 15, 1914 in Long Beach , Harrison County , Mississippi , † October 16, 1972 (missing)) was an American politician and member of the Warren Commission .

After graduating from Tulane University in 1935, Boggs began working as a lawyer in New Orleans . From 1941 to 1943 he represented the Democrats in the United States House of Representatives . After that, Boggs turned away from politics to serve as a reservist for the Navy during World War II . After the war, in 1946, Boggs became politically active again: he was re-elected to Congress .

In 1948 he was a board member of the American Committee for a United Europe . In 1963 Lyndon B. Johnson appointed him to the Warren Commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of John F. Kennedy . Hale Boggs has been missing since 16 October 1972 he was together with Congressman Nick Begich of Alaska by plane from Anchorage to Juneau go. In 1973 his wife Lindy took over his seat in Congress.
