Joseph Aristide Landry

Joseph Aristide Landry (born July 10, 1817 in Donaldsonville , Louisiana , †  March 9, 1881 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the state of Louisiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joseph Landry attended school in Cape Girardeau ( Missouri ). After returning to Louisiana, he embarked on a political career as a member of the Whig Party . In 1840 he was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives.

In the congressional election of 1850 , Landry was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Louisiana , where he succeeded Henry Adams Bullard on March 4, 1851 . Until March 3, 1853, he had only one term in Congress . This was determined by the discussions about the question of slavery in the run-up to the civil war .

Before the Civil War, Landry was a sergeant in the local militia. The sources do not provide any information about his further life during and after the civil war. He died on March 9, 1881.
