Thomas G. Davidson

Thomas Green Davidson (born August 3, 1805 in Coles Creek , Jefferson County , Mississippi , †  September 11, 1883 in Springfield , Louisiana ) was an American politician . Between 1855 and 1861 he represented the state of Louisiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Davidson first attended elementary school. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began to work in his new profession in Greensburg (Louisiana). He was also employed by the Federal Land Office . Politically, Davidson became a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1833 and 1846 he was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives . In 1855 he was chairman of the Louisiana regional Democratic party convention.

In the congressional election of 1854 , Davidson was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Louisiana , where he succeeded John Perkins on March 4, 1855 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1861 . These were shaped by the events and discussions leading up to the civil war . Between 1874 and 1878 and in 1880 and 1883 Thomas Davidson was again a member of the House of Representatives from Louisiana. He died on September 11, 1883 in Springfield and was buried there.
