Henry Warren Ogden (born October 21, 1842 in Abingdon , Virginia , †  July 23, 1905 in Benton , Louisiana ) was an American politician . Between 1894 and 1899 he represented the state of Louisiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1851, Henry Ogden moved with his parents to Warrensburg , Missouri . There he attended public schools. During the Civil War he was a lieutenant in the army of the Confederate States . After the war, he settled in Louisiana, where he worked in agriculture.

Politically, Ogden became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1879 he was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Louisiana constitution. Between 1880 and 1888 Ogden sat as a member of the House of Representatives from Louisiana , whose speaker he had been since 1884. After Newton C. Blanchard's resignation , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the fourth seat of Louisiana , where he took up his new mandate on May 12, 1894. After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1899 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Henry Ogden returned to farming. He died in Benton on July 23, 1905.
