John Berlinger Breaux

John Berlinger Breaux (born March 1, 1944 in Crowley , Louisiana ) is an American politician .

Life

After leaving school, Breaux studied at the University of Southwestern Louisiana ( University of Louisiana at Lafayette ) in Lafayette and at the Louisiana State University Law School in Baton Rouge , where he graduated in law in 1967 . After graduating, he worked as a lawyer in Louisiana.

Breaux is a member of the Democratic Party . From September 30, 1972 to January 3, 1987 he was the successor to Edwin Edwards MP in the United States House of Representatives . He in turn was followed by Jimmy Hayes . From January 3, 1987 to January 3, 2005, Breaux served as the successor to Russell B. Long as a Senator in the United States Senate . David Vitter followed him in office. After the end of his tenure as a senator, he was appointed professor at the Douglas Manship School of Mass Communication , Louisiana State University , in Baton Rouge in February 2005 .

Breaux is married to Lois Daigle Breaux and is a member of the Catholic Church.
