James Van Der Beek
James Van Der Beek (born March 8, 1977 in Cheshire , Connecticut ) is an American actor . He became famous for the role of Dawson Leery in the television series Dawson's Creek .
Life
His father, Jim Van Der Beek, has Dutch roots and is the CEO of a mobile communications company. His mother, Melinda Van Der Beek, owns a gym and used to be a Broadway dancer .
Van Der Beek started acting when he was thirteen years old. Up to the age of 16 he took part in theater performances at his school. His mother took him to New York City to find an agent for him. At first he worked in a few Broadway plays. He got his first film role in 1995 in the film Angus - voll cool , the following year he got a small role in the film I Love You, I Love You Not with Claire Danes in the leading role. After that, he initially received no further offers and decided to study. During his studies he began to travel. Upon his return in 1998, he made another attempt to gain a foothold as an actor, auditioned for a role on the television series Dawson's Creek and eventually received the lead role.
After the end of Dawson's Creek , he appeared primarily through television productions. In 2006 he played the lead role in the horror film The Plague , which Clive Barker produced. In the same year he starred in the sitcom Sex, Power, Love & Politics , which was about employees of Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. In 2007 he worked in various television productions, including a. in two episodes of the television series Criminal Minds .
From 2012 to 2013 he played himself in the comedy series Apartment 23 . In 2014, he appeared on the short-lived CBS sitcom Friends with Better Lives . His next series role as Special Agent Elijah Mundo in the crime series CSI: Cyber (2015-2016) only lasted two series.
From 2003 to 2010 James Van Der Beek was married to actress Heather McComb . He has been married to Kimberly Brook since August 2010 and the couple have five children together.
