Cheshire is a city in New Haven County in the US state of Connecticut , United States , with 29,300 inhabitants (as of 2004 ). The urban area has a size of 86.5 km².

history

Cheshire was founded by direct immigrant Europeans and was part of Wallingford . In 1780 Cheshire became independent and remained a small but independent city for the next 170 years. Cheshire's nickname is Bedding Plant Capitol of Connecticut , as many of Connecticut's largest bedding and balcony plant nurseries are located here. With the Cheshire Academy , a renowned private school has also found its home here.
