Robert Malloy (born November 20, 1986 in Cheshire , Connecticut ) is an American - Australian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Newcastle North Stars in the Australian Ice Hockey League since 2015 .

Career

Robert Malloy began his career as a hockey player in the junior division of the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Junior Hockey League . From 2005 to 2009 he played for the Lebanon Valley College team in Pennsylvania in the third division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 2011 he moved to Australia, where he played four seasons for the Sydney Ice Dogs in the Australian Ice Hockey League . After leading the team as captain on the ice since 2013, in the same year he won the Goodall Cup , the Australian championship, with the Ice Dogs . In 2015, he was drawn 160 kilometers north to league rivals Newcastle North Stars , for whom he has played since and with whom he also won the Australian title in 2015 and 2016.

International

For the men's national team , Malloy was on the ice for the first time at the World Cup of Division II in 2015 , when the team from Down Under had to accept relegation from the A to the B group. Then in 2016 , when he was the best scorer among the defenders, he was promoted again immediately. He also played in Division II at the 2017 and 2018 World Championships .
