Mercy is an American television series produced by Universal Media Studios for the US broadcaster NBC . The series is about the lives of three nurses. In the US, the series opened on September 23, 2009 on NBC.

Mercy is a drama ensemble set in the fictional Mercy Hospital in Jersey City , New Jersey . The series revolves around the lives of three nurses, Veronica Flanagan Callahan, Sonia Jimenez and Chloe Payne. Veronica is a nurse who has just returned from her assignment in Iraq , while Chloe is just starting her job as a nurse.

production

Much of the interior filming was done in the disused Barnert Hospital in Paterson . For the exterior shots of Mercy Hospital, 4th Street, between Newark Ave. and Colgate St. in New Jersey . It's the back of a public school. The exterior of Lucky 7's Bar was filmed on the corner of 2nd Street and Coles Street in Jersey City, while the interior of the bar was filmed in the Park Tavern on Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City. The exterior shots of the Red Fox Saloon were shot at the Monaghan House in south Amboy, New Jersey and the interior shots at Ted's Bar in Sayreville, New Jersey.

Mercy was originally planned as a midseason series, but it started in the fall after the premiere of Parenthood was postponed to 2010 due to production problems. The series was broadcast on Wednesdays at 8 a.m. in the fall of 2009 and from April 2010 at 9 a.m.

On October 23, 2009, Mercy received a full season of 22 episodes, and on May 14, 2010 NBC announced that Mercy has been discontinued and that there will be no second season.

The German dubbing was created by the dubbing company Arena Synchron GmbH in Berlin after the dialogue direction by Ralph Beckmann .

The series saw an average of 6.33 million people, making it 76th among the most successful series of the season. The German-language first broadcast of the series could be seen from August 22, 2011 on later Monday evening on ORF eins . In Switzerland, the series was initially broadcast on SF two on Monday evening at prime time from October 31, 2011 , but was postponed to the night program after five episodes due to a lack of viewer interest.

In addition to the USA, the series was also broadcast in Australia , Brazil , Belgium , France , Italy , Canada , the Netherlands , Poland and Portugal .

criticism

The series has a metascore of 41/100 at Metacritic based on 17 reviews. On TV.com the series has a rating of 7.8 / 10 based on 431 votes and at IMDb.com the series has a rating of 6.7 / 10 based on 889 votes. Tiffany Connors of the New York Post gave Mercy a "B +" rating. Many reviews describe Mercy as a poor copy of Showtime's Nurse Jackie .
