Peter Gerety

Peter Gerety (born May 17, 1940 in Providence , Rhode Island ) is an American actor .

Life

Peter Gerety began his acting career as a student at Brown University . There he worked on projects at the Charles Playhouse . In 1965 he joined the Trinity Square Repertory Company and appeared in over 125 productions of these. He made his film debut in 1981 in the film The House of Mirth .

In 1992 Gerety appeared on Broadway in the play Conversations with My Father by Judd Hirsch . From 1997 until the end of the series in 1999, he was seen in the police series Homicide . From 2002 to 2008 he played the role of Daniel Phelan in The Wire . He also appeared in six episodes of the Brotherhood series . Gerety had a leading role in the NBC series Prime Suspect from 2011 to 2012 as Desmond Timoney , the father of the main character Jane (played by Maria Bello ).

Furthermore, Peter Gerety has starred in various films, including War of the Worlds (2005) and Inside Man (2006).
