Diego Klattenhoff (born November 30, 1979 in New Glasgow , Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian actor .

life and career

Diego Klattenhoff, who grew up in Nova Scotia , is the son of a German and wanted to become a professional baseball player as a child . At the age of 19 he moved to Toronto to pursue his acting career. There he took part in theater workshops while working as a bartender .

He had his first major role in 2004 in the film Girls Club - Be careful! alongside Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams . After further guest appearances, including in Missing - Desperately Wanted , Smallville and Stargate - Kommando SG-1 , he had a leading role in the 2006 miniseries At the Hotel , as well as a supporting role in the second season of the series The Secrets of Whistler and in the Movie Fallen Angels . In 2008 he played a role in a six-episode arc of Men in Trees as well as a role in the final part of the fantasy film series Fallen Angels , Fallen Angels 3 .

A year later, Klattenhoff got the lead role of Mike Callahan in the NBC series Mercy , which was discontinued after a season. From 2011 to 2013 he starred as Captain Mike Faber in the series Homeland . In the first two seasons his role was the main cast, since the third to the secondary cast. With this role, Klattenhoff achieved great fame. The films Pacific Rim and After Earth followed in 2013 , and, since September 2013, the series The Blacklist , in which he can be seen alongside James Spader as special agent Donald Ressler.
