action

Toby is a 28 year old paramedic who grew up in orphanages. Toby has kept his skills a secret to this day and only Dr. Ray Mercer, his old confidante and advisor, knew her well before the first episode. While driving through Toronto with his partner Osman "Oz" Bey, Toby helps various people through their crises and also tries to fathom his own past. He also gets help from Detective Charlie Marks and his (ex) girlfriend Olivia Fawcett, an emergency room doctor at a Toronto clinic.

Characters

Toby Logan

Toby (Craig Olejnik) is 28 years old, doesn't know his father, remembers his mother only partially and grew up in orphanages. He's been a medic for a year and can read other people's minds, which he initially regards as a curse. Over time - before the first episode - he learned to shield himself from the thoughts of others. In the course of the first season, however, he realizes that he can also help people with this ability and from then on regards it as a gift and no longer a curse.

Osman "Oz" Bey

Oz, a 26 year old Turk , is Toby's best friend, also a medic and his partner in the ambulance service. During the first season he is the first to whom Toby reveals his gift.

Det. Charlie Marks

Charlie is a homicide cop . She is the second person to whom Toby shows his abilities and is initially critical of him and his gift, but later the two help each other. At the end of the first season, she protects Toby and is shot in the process. The first episode of season two mentions that she did not survive the shot.

Sgt. Michelle McCluskey

Michelle is also a police officer and works for the IIB. In the second episode, Toby reveals to her that he can read minds and from now on helps her to solve other cases. Michelle also tells her partner that Toby can read minds.

production

The series was created by Michael Amo and produced by Shaftesbury Films for Canadian broadcaster CTV . Production started in spring 2008.

On November 17, 2009 it was announced that there would be a second season with 13 new episodes. Production of this season began in September 2010. The second season was broadcast from February 8, 2011 to August 31, 2011 on the Canadian broadcaster CTV. On June 1, 2011, a third season with 13 new episodes was commissioned, the broadcast of which was to be seen from May 30, 2012 to September 12, 2012 on CTV. On July 25, 2012, CTV gave the order The Listener to extend a fourth season with 13 additional episodes, which were to be seen from May 29, 2013 as a Canadian premiere. The reason given by the broadcaster was that the third season had already achieved the highest number of viewers in series history. With 1.14 million Canadian television viewers, this is an increase of 14 percent compared to the second season alone. Compared to the first season, the increase would even be 28 percent. On October 7, 2013, CTV announced the production of a fifth season, which again consists of 13 episodes. From May 26 to August 18, 2014, the 13 new episodes of the fifth season were broadcast on the Canadian television station CTV. In August 2014, CTV announced that the series would end after the fifth season.
