Colm Feore (born August 22, 1958 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American - Canadian actor .

life and work

Feore is a native American of Irish descent. He spent the first three years of his life in Ireland. Afterward, his family moved to Ottawa , and he grew up in what is now his adopted home, Canada. After graduating from Ridley College in St. Catharines , Ontario , he attended the National Theater School in Montréal , Québec . He then appeared for 13 seasons at the Stratford Festival Theater , the theater with the largest repertoire of classical plays in North America. There he played leading roles in the Shakespeare plays Romeo and Juliet , Othello , Hamlet and Richard III. and in many other plays.

In Canada, his best-known role was Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the critically acclaimed television miniseries Trudeau from 2002.

Outside of Canada Feore was seen in numerous television but also in some movies. He had his first appearance in front of a camera in 1986 in the television film The Boys from Syracuse . After three further TV productions, the first feature film, The Steel Eagle II, followed in 1988 .

His classical theater background gives his film characters depth. Another bonus is Feore's sword fighting experience. For example, he showed his skills in an episode of the television series Nick Knight in 1995 , in which he and his good friend and Stratford colleague Geraint Wyn Davies made use of their sword handling skills and added an excellent sword fighting scene just for fun. He also used this skill in Riddick: Chronicles of a Warrior .

From 2011 to 2013 he played Cardinal Giuliano della Rovere in the television series The Borgias about Rodrigo Borgia and his family.

Colm Feore has been married since 1994 and lives with his wife in Stratford , Ontario. The two have three children.
