action

The film begins with the inauguration of US President Ronald Reagan and a brief outline of the beginning of his presidency. The film then begins with a briefing in the Oval Office about the conflict with the Soviet Union . A little later the film switches to the later assassin John Hinckley, Jr. and shows him writing the threatening letter and the preparations for the assassination attempt. After a quarter of an hour of playing, the film finally reaches the assassination scene in front of the Park Central Hotel. Then the admission and treatment of the President in the George Washington University Hospitals up to the operation is shown.

After half an hour the focus of the film shifts to the Situation Room in the White House , where the work of the government without President Reagan with the corresponding chaos becomes the new focus of the film: The responsibilities in this situation are not very clear and it will be dispute over the enforcement of the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution . The defense minister has also put the military on higher alert. When a military strike by the Soviet Union is suspected, the chaos becomes even greater. Communication with the press is also uncoordinated. This is contradictingly informed about the current situation in the White House and in turn wants to know more about the state of the US President.

The film ends shortly before Ronald Reagan is released from the hospital.
