Sean McCann (born September 18, 1971 in North York , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach .

Career

McCann first played four years from 1990 to 1994 at Harvard University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After he was selected in the NHL Supplemental Draft in 1994 at the first overall position by the Florida Panthers , he switched to the professional camp for the 1994/95 season.

The trained defender first played in the International Hockey League with the Cincinnati Cyclones , before he came to further assignments in the following year with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League . Until the end of his career after the 2000/01 season, his other positions in the IHL were the Milwaukee Admirals , Orlando Solar Bears and Houston Eros . In the AHL he still played for the Springfield Falcons and Syracuse Crunch . However , he never got to work in the National Hockey League .

After retiring from his career, McCann took on the post of assistant coach for the ice hockey team at Harvard University, where he himself studied, in 2002.
