Kenneth Welsh , also known as Ken Welsh (born March 30, 1942 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian film actor .

Welsh, who especially in Canada is known, has known in a number of US productions prominent supporting roles played (such as in Legends of the Fall ( Legends of the Fall ), Absolute Power , The Day After Tomorrow and The Aviator ). But his main field of work is television. He mainly plays in television films for the American market. Best known is his embodiment of the multi-faced villain Windom Earle in David Lynch's Twin Peaks series .

Because of his serious looks, Welsh often plays doctors, judges, professors, clergy dignitaries, and politicians. He portrayed US President Harry S. Truman twice. In The Day After Tomorrow he played the ecologically ignorant vice president, who was inspired by Dick Cheney . In four Sherlock Holmes TV adaptations, he played Dr. Watson .

In 2003 he was honored with the Order of Canada , the country's highest civilian award.
