action

Jo Ellen Hathaway, a very successful photojournalist, is harassed by a stalker who not only sends her unsolicited emails but also photos he has taken of her. The photographer wonders who could have come so close to take such pictures of her. But things get worse when Jo Ellen receives a picture of a beautiful woman who was taken naked. The photo shows her mother. A nervous breakdown ensues, so that Jo Ellen decides to take time out with her family, who live on a quiet island. There she meets her relatives and friends as well as her aunt Kate. The young woman is repeatedly haunted by nightmares about her mother, who disappeared without a trace 18 years ago when Joe Ellen was still a child. The family then broke up. Joe Ellen wanted to get away from it all when she got older, left her parents' home and never really wanted to return. But she is not safe on the small island of Desire either, here too she receives unwanted emails and photos of the unknown, including photos from childhood.

When Nathan Delaney, a childhood sweetheart of Jo Ellen, comes to the island to relax, they both fall in love. After a while, Nathan tells Jo Ellen that her mother was raped and killed by his behavioral brother David. David is now dead. Jo Ellen is beside herself and doesn't know how to react, but realizes that her nightmares are waning.

Then, however, like then, a young woman disappears without a trace: Joe Ellen's friend Ginny. Shortly before, the women had exchanged ideas during a get-together at a party that was celebrated on the nightly promenade. While a bad storm hit the island, the situation worsened dramatically. When Jo Ellen is confronted with the murderer, she has to face her own tragic past.
