Holland Taylor
Holland Taylor (born January 14, 1943 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress .
Life
Taylor studied at Bennington College before moving to New York City to do theater. Her first appearance on Broadway was in 1965, alongside Anne Bancroft in The Devils , a play by John Whiting .
Holland Taylor has starred in numerous television series and films since the early 1980s, including alongside Tom Hanks in the series Bosom Buddies . Holland Taylor played the mother of Truman Burbank in Peter Weir's 1998 media satire The Truman Show , and she portrayed first lady Nancy Reagan in the 2001 television film The Day Reagan Was Shot . In 2000, Taylor received an Emmy for her performance in the drama series The Practice .
From 2003 to 2015 she was in the US sitcom Two and a Half Men as Evelyn Harper, the mother of Alan Harper (played by Jon Cryer ) and his brother Charlie (played by Charlie Sheen ), who died in the series . In 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2010, she was nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actress for her performance on this series.
In November 2015, Taylor announced in an interview that she was dating a much younger woman. A little later, her relationship with Sarah Paulson , who was about 31 years her junior, became known.
