action

It all starts with the fact that Gregorio Cortez ( Antonio Banderas ) does not get the position of director of the OSS by a trick. His son Juni ( Daryl Sabara ) is suspended a few minutes later because he lets the most powerful device, which could turn off all devices in the world, go into the hands of the enemy. Juni and Carmen ( Alexa Vega ) had hoped to get a good job. But Carmen doesn't give up so easily. She hacked into the OSS computer system and turned June into a spy again. Not only that, she loads the latest assignment that would be due to the children of the new director of the OSS into her account, and instead she sends the other two children to the Gobi desert.

The mission leads to an island that doesn't even light up on a radar screen. Numerous planes and ships have already disappeared here. When the two siblings get near the island, all electrical devices fail. With the help of the simplest objects they still manage to get to the island. There is a volcano in the middle of the island. You climb it and fall into the crater. However, they reach the bottom unharmed and meet a scientist who gives them information about the island. He has bred hybrid beings, e.g. B. are half ape and half spider, but he had made them too big and lost control. The siblings also find out that the mechanical device was hijacked by the director of the OSS himself and that he intends to use it for his own purposes. His children are not far either, and Juni and Carmen soon meet them. Thus begins a race against wild beings, skeletons and children.

Reviews

The lexicon of the international film wrote: "Agent parody as a rapidly staged children's film, which, in contrast to the first part, leaves little room for subtle allusions and occasionally loses its potential despite the well-behaved actors due to its lust for sensations and effects."

On cineclub.de it was said: "" Spy Kids 2 "offers adventure and technology mixed with a passable story. Without the charm of traditional children's films, it is very entertaining. "
