Bill Paxton
William Archibald "Bill" Paxton (born May 17, 1955 in Fort Worth , Texas - † February 25, 2017 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor and director .
Life
Bill Paxton was born in Fort Worth to Mary Lou and John Lane Paxton. At the age of 18 he moved to Los Angeles , where he worked as a decorator and set designer. In 1975 Paxton first appeared in front of the camera in the movie Crazy Mom . In 1981 he was hired by James Cameron for the film Galaxy of Terror for the production design . When he rejected film schools in California, he began working as an actor. He had supporting roles in I think a moose smooches me! and LISA - sheer madness . He moved to New York, where he studied acting with Stella Adler (Studio of Acting in NYC). During his studies he found numerous smaller engagements in television productions, and he also wrote and produced short films.
In 1984 he became the singer of the new wave band Martini Ranch . With the band he released an album and two singles.
In the same year he played a very minor supporting role in Cameron's Terminator , in which he played a punk . Through the acquaintance of Cameron, with whom he was later also a close friend, Paxton came in 1986 to the role of Private Hudson in the science fiction action film Aliens - The Return . The real breakthrough came in 1992 with the film One False Move . In 1994 Paxton was seen as a windy car salesman in Cameron's True Lies, and in 1995 as an astronaut in Apollo 13 alongside Tom Hanks and Kevin Bacon . In 1996, the disaster film Twister, directed by Jan de Bont, starred alongside Helen Hunt . In 1997 he played the role of Brock Lovett in the eleven Academy Award winning film Titanic , again directed by Cameron. At Cameron's request, he took over the role shortly before the start of shooting after the originally planned actor had canceled and that without having read the script beforehand.
Since 1997 Bill Paxton has also produced films himself, he made his debut with Traveler - Die Highway-Zocker with Mark Wahlberg and Julianna Margulies . In 2001 he made his debut with Demonisch as a director, followed in 2005 by his second film The Biggest Game of His Life . His first marriage in 1979 to Kelly Rowan was divorced in 1980. He was married to Louise Newbury since 1987. Bill Paxton lived in Ojai , California with his wife and two children . He died on February 25, 2017 at the age of 61. The cause of death was a stroke he had suffered after complications during a heart operation.
