Martini Ranch was an American new wave band.

history

The band was founded in 1982 by Andrew Todd Rosenthal. In 1984 the actor Bill Paxton joined the band, who was initially responsible for the music videos , but later also got involved as a singer and lyricist.

A year later, the band received a record deal with Sire Records , on which the 1986 debut single How Can the Laboring Man Find Time for Self-Culture? appeared. The sound was heavily inspired by Devo . With Mark Mothersbaugh , Alan Myers and Bob Casale , three members of this band were also involved in the recordings .

The second single Reach followed in 1988 . In the accompanying music video, which was directed by James Cameron , Andrew Todd Rosenthal, Bill and Louise Paxton, Kathryn Bigelow , Bud Cort , Jenette Goldstein , Lance Henriksen , Adrian Pasdar , Judge Reinhold , Paul Reiser , Mark Rolston and Brian appeared Thompson up. In the same year the album Holy Cow was released on Sire . In 2007 the album was reissued by the indie label Noble Rot. After Bill Paxton's death in February 2017, the Futurismo label announced a vinyl re-release of Holy Cow for May 2017.
