Lance Henriksen (born May 5, 1940 in New York City ) is an American actor .

life and work

Henriksen served under age three years in the US Navy , he graduated from New York's Actor's Studio and made his debut in an off-Broadway -Theater in the play Three Plays of the Sea of Eugene O'Neill . He has been known with Al Pacino since his appearance in the 1975 film Dog Days . Henriksen was originally supposed to play the Terminator in James Cameron's Terminator in 1984 , but Arnold Schwarzenegger eventually got the role and Henriksen played a cop. Two years later he worked again with Cameron and played an android in the film Aliens - The Return , which he also played in Alien³ in 1992 and where Sigourney Weaver again took the lead role. He starred alongside Andy García and Uma Thurman in Jennifer 8 (1992) and starred alongside Sharon Stone , Gene Hackman and Russell Crowe in Quicker Than Death (1995) .

He was also in the 1996-1999 television series Millennium , where he played former FBI agent Frank Black . For this role, Henriksen was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and for the Saturn Award in 1997 and 1999 . In 2005 he appeared in an episode of the Steven Spielberg- produced television series Into the West .

He achieved a large fan base primarily through his numerous appearances in the field of fantastic films. His work includes more than 150 film and television productions.

In 2009 Henriksen received the Life Career Award at the Saturn Awards .

Private

Henriksen lives in Southern California and is an amateur painter and ceramist in his spare time . He was married to Mary Jane Evans from 1985 to 1988, and in 1995 he married Jane Pollack . He is the father of two children. On May 5, 2011, he published his autobiography Not Bad for a Human , named after his last line of dialogue in Aliens - The Return .
