action
Daniel Ciello has been a police investigator with the Narcotics Division of the New York City Police Department for eight years . When he is convicted of corruption, the prosecutor offers him impunity if he cooperates with the investigative authorities.
At a party, a colleague spoke to him about the rumor that he was cooperating with the public prosecutor. Ciello confirms, but adds that he is not extraditing the closest employees. Shortly afterwards a report appeared in a newspaper in which Ciello was named as an informant for the public prosecutor's office. He and his family are therefore placed under permanent protection.
Ciello is warned by his cousin Nick Napoli that they are about to kill him. He was even contacted about it, but he refused. A little later, Napoli himself is found murdered in a garbage can.
Ciello's former colleague Michael Blomberg is to be tried. Ciello is willing to lie to cover up Blomberg. However, the lawyers warned him of the consequences of perjury . Blomberg's attorney and several witnesses accuse Ciello of having committed more crimes than is previously known. One of the witnesses took a lie detector test and was convicted of a lie.
Ciello tries to persuade his colleagues to also work with the prosecutor. One of the policemen commits suicide.
