Robert Daley

Robert Daley (* 1930 in New York City ) is an American writer who, in addition to thrillers and detective novels, also published essays and non-fiction. Prior to writing, he was Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Life

He graduated from Fordham University in 1951 and served in the American Air Force during the Korean War . He then was advertising director for the New York Giants in the National Football League for six seasons . For six more years he worked for the New York Times as an overseas contributor.

In 1978, his non-fiction work of Prince of the City (title dt as well. Prince of the City ), which was highly praised by the NY Times: "The policeman as afflicted with defects hero, a recurrent and extremely popular figure in contemporary Writing has never been presented better. ”As early as 1973, in Target Blue: An Insider's View of the NYPD, he had described the turbulent years in which two Mafia bosses were shot, as well as police officers who were killed by Black Liberation Army assassins and others in the Knapp Commission had to answer in court for corruption of officials .

In total, Daley wrote 18 novels, several of which were made into films, including a. by Oliver Stone , with Daley helping to create the script himself several times.

The author lives with his wife, who is of French descent, alternately in Connecticut and Nice .
