action

After the combat robots known as Screamers destroyed all human life on the planet Sirius 6B, a new distress signal was received from there thirteen years later. A rescue team sets out to find a possible colony of human survivors. Rescue workers actually encounter surviving colonists, but also discover that the Screamers have evolved into half-human, half-robotic hybrids and are now an even greater threat than before.

The plot is loosely based on the short story Variation Two by the author Philip K. Dick .

criticism

“With a direct-to-DVD sequel like this one, you actually know in advance what to expect. You won't be disappointed in the relationship. Technically, the sequel is quite good in view of the low budget and can come up with a few convincing effects. However, the film suffers from the outrageous story, which, firstly, has been seen several dozen times before and, secondly, misses the point. A 'Screamers' film should not rely on monster action, but rather work with a feeling of paranoia. But that is precisely what is not even rudimentarily played out here. A failure when you consider that screamers can now take human form. The finale is quite predictable and sets the stage for the next sequel. Some of the dialogues are extremely ridiculous, but correlate very well with the characters' irrational behavior. Oh yes, leading actress Gina Holden has also been active in even more trashy science fiction: She played Dale Arden in the short-lived Flash Gordon series. Conclusion: killer robots and lots of action - those who don't expect more are well served here. "
