Falling is a film drama directed by Viggo Mortensen that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 .

The widower Willis Peterson, bitter after the loss of two wives, moves from his farm to Los Angeles to live with the self-chosen family of his gay son John, his husband and their daughter. When John and his sister Sarah get together to organize the care of their father, they are faced with the impact their father has had on their lives, past and present.

The film was first shown on January 31, 2020 at the Sundance Film Festival . At the beginning of June 2020 it was announced that Falling was in the "official selection", a selection of 56 films from the Cannes Film Festival originally planned for May 2020 , which have been canceled in its usual form due to the coronavirus pandemic. In September 2020 it will be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival . In mid-September 2020 it will be presented at the Leipzig Film Art Fair.
