Abominable (to German Disgusting , Repulsive ) is a horror film by Ryan Schifrin from the year 2006. The film is a production of the TV channel Syfy and accesses the myth of Bigfoot as a central character in the film back.
action
The film begins with the farmer Billy Hoss and his wife being woken up by strange noises in the middle of a winter night. When they go outside to investigate the cause, they find one of their horses dead and battered in the pasture and huge, bloody footprints in the snow. When your dog senses something, they know that the animal that killed the horse is still nearby, and they withdraw into the house, conscious of the danger. There they are frightened to see behind closed shutters how a huge, threatening creature sneaks around their house. When the creature is gone again, they find the strange, big footsteps outside in the snow.
Six months later, Preston Rogers, who is bound to a wheelchair, and the arrogant carer Otis move into a secluded holiday home in the local forests. Preston, who some time ago had a bad climbing accident in the local mountains in which his wife was killed and he was crippled, has now returned to the scene of the event to face his bad memories. On the same day, a group of five young girls settled in the only neighboring house across the street for a weekend trip. That same evening Preston begins to make strange observations: At first he thinks he is being watched by something from the underbrush in front of the houses, then suddenly he notices one of the girls, Karen Herdberger, disappearing from one moment to the next without a trace. Only the cell phone that she used to call at the edge of the forest remains. Preston believes he has been kidnapped and tries to email the police in the nearest town.
That same night, a group of three hunters, including Billy Hoss, are looking for the mysterious creature from back then. When one of the three, Ziegler Dane, begins to hear noises, he leaves the group's camp to look. He finds footprints, blood and finally a large cave. Inside, he suddenly discovers the missing Karen Herdberger, who is bleeding and pleading desperately for help, as it will be back soon. Before Dane can do anything, the girl is dragged deeper into the darkness of the cave and killed. Dane flees back to the camp in great excitement to inform the others, but the creature, a huge, bloodthirsty Sasquatch , has followed him and kills the whole group in an ambush.
Meanwhile, the rest of the girls have noticed their friend's disappearance and are looking for her in front of the house without success. You decide to call the police and return to the house. Then Preston discovers on the balcony that the monster, the Sasquatch, has come back and is sneaking around his neighbors' house. All attempts to make his carer Otis aware of the danger fail. When he tries to warn the girls, he is labeled as a tensioner and ignored because of his observation with the binoculars. So he has to watch helplessly as one of the girls is surprisingly grabbed through the wall and murdered by the monster while showering. When he again wants to inform Otis, he has had enough and angrily wants to give him a strong sedative. But by mistake he injects himself with the drug and falls asleep right away. When Preston turns around, he is surprised to find that the creature is standing in front of the window and has been watching him at close range. Scared to death, he falls out of the wheelchair and loses consciousness.
When Preston wakes up again, he notices that the other girls have meanwhile noticed their friend's death in the locked bathroom and are now in complete panic trying to call the police. While Preston is shouting instructions to them from the balcony, the Sasquatch suddenly enters the girls' house, and Preston is horrified to watch how the monster massacres the other girls. Only the last surviving girl named Amanda escapes and flees to Preston in the next house, scared to death. There Preston develops a plan to escape: While the Bigfoot is still waiting in front of the front door, the two want to abseil unnoticed with mountaineering equipment over the high balcony and flee with the nearby car. Amanda manages to rappel down Preston successfully despite his paraplegia, but when she tries to follow him, the Sasquatch loses patience in front of the door, breaks into the house and discovers the people who are fleeing. He pulls the screaming Amanda back up while Preston can do nothing. But while the beast is still feasting on the girl's fear, Otis, who has awakened again, suddenly stands behind him and mockingly rams an ax into his back, whereupon the monster drops Amanda down to Preston. But since the attack only wounded Bigfoot, the keeper now feels the wrath of the creature and is killed by it.
In the meantime, Amanda tries to get to the car with Preston, but the angry Sasquatch is hot on their heels. Even before they can drive off, the monster catches up with them and with its tremendous forces pulls the car off the path. Amanda is thrown out of the car and remains unconscious. To keep the Bigfoot from harming Amanda, Preston begins to annoy and irritate him with the horn of the car. When the Sasquatch gets right behind the car, he goes into reverse and rams him into a thick tree. As a result of the force, the ax, which is still in the back of the monster, is pushed further and further through the body and the wound gets bigger and bigger. The formally staked Sasquatch eventually succumbs to his injuries and dies. Preston takes care of the injured Amanda until the police and ambulance finally arrive and take them both to the hospital. However, Preston has to discover that the dead Bigfoot has disappeared without a trace when he looks back one more time. Finally, the local sheriff and his people search the area after the events told, but without discovering anything. But just as they say the story is nonsense and want to break off the search, they turn around and see many growling Sasquatches in the undergrowth, which seem to appear out of nowhere.
criticism
The lexicon of international films ruled that the film was "neatly told, but not particularly original". His orientation to Alfred Hitchcock's "The Window to the Courtyard" reveals "clear signs of wear and tear."
