Rex Linn

Rex Maynard Linn (born November 13, 1956 in Ochiltree County , Texas ) is an American actor who is mostly used as an authority figure such as an officer or law enforcement officer.

Life

Linn grew up on a ranch in a small town in Texas, and in 1969 his family moved to Oklahoma . After completing school with a bachelor's degree , he decided to pursue a career in the banking industry . There he worked his way up to the position of Vice President before the bank went bankrupt in 1982. Linn then decided to make a radical cut and tried to gain a foothold in the film business. After he was initially only booked for commercials , he received his first film and television roles in the late 1980s.

Linn had supporting roles in the pilot for the then unrealized television series Bonanza: The Next Generation and in the feature film The Kansas Conspiracy . This was followed by other small roles until he was able to book a larger part in the action film Cliffhanger - Only the Strong Survive with Sylvester Stallone in 1993 . From then on, he received other roles in Hollywood productions, such as The Cartel , The Pirate Bride and Rush Hour . During the 1990s, Linn starred in three films with Kevin Costner : Wyatt Earp , Tin Cup and Postman .

Since 2000, Linn has been increasingly active in television series, for example in series specials for Pretender and Profiler . He also had a recurring guest role in JAG - On behalf of honor . From 2003 to 2012 he played the role of Detectiv Sergeant Francis "Frank" Tripp in CSI: Miami , initially only as a guest star, from the fifth season onwards as the leading actor named in the opening credits.

After recurring roles in the television series Nashville , Better Call Saul and Lethal Weapon , Linn has appeared in the comedy series Young Sheldon as Principal Petersen since 2017 .
