Rush Hour 2

Rush Hour is an American action comedy starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker , which was filmed in the USA in 1998. The first film was followed by the two sequels Rush Hour 2 (2001) and Rush Hour 3 (2007). In 2016, an American television series based on the film series was created .

action

The 11-year-old daughter of the Chinese consul in Los Angeles, Consul Han, is kidnapped. Regardless of all diplomatic entanglements, the latter is of course interested in having his child back. To do this, he has Detective Inspector Lee, supposedly the best that Hong Kong police has to offer, flown into LA. The FBI also gets wind of this, which of course is not at all enthusiastic that a foreign detective wants to investigate its territory.

So the FBI also puts a local cop on the matter: Detective James Carter is a robust chatterbox who could also chatter his counterpart if necessary - and that's actually his job: He should prevent Lee from doing "serious" investigations. The agile Lee doesn't get along well with that at first - but at least Carter is dumb enough to let Lee slip away again and again. At first they are like cats and dogs - but in the end they have to solve a common case and get the diplomat's daughter back.

synchronization

The synchronization took over the FFS Film & TV sync in Berlin , after a dialogue book and the dialogue director of Oliver Rohrbeck .

Trivia

  • The film was Jackie Chan's most successful film to date, with grossing over 140 million US dollars in the US alone.

“He feels like a newborn baby, exults Jackie Chan. A dream has come true for him, he has achieved what his idol Bruce Lee never succeeded: With this film he became a Hollywood star. "

  • In Hong Kong, Jackie Chan's fans were less enthusiastic because he could only incorporate a few stunts into this film. A short time later, however, Chan met the taste of the Asian audience again with the film Under Control .

Reviews

"Over-the-top police and buddy comedy based on well-known patterns, which narrows the radius of action of action star Jackie Chan and makes his idiosyncratic comedy enjoyable for an American audience."

“Jackie didn't have to go to these limits for 'rush hour'. In terms of hardness and acrobatics, he is less challenged in his fights than before. [...] Highly amusing action fireworks. "

“If you are into action comedies, you shouldn't miss this film. Without much depth, the viewer has enough gags and flying fists for an entertaining evening. The soundtrack does the rest and the songs (like 'Can I get a' by Jay-Z ) work in the right places. In short: what offered too few combat interludes for the Asian Chan fans, for the Western fan base is a good mix between ' Lethal Weapon ' and the ' Beverly Hills Cop ' with a dash of Asian flair - even if the quality of the references mentioned is never reached .
