Zombeavers (Original title: Zombeavers ) is an American horror - comedy from 2014 .

action

A group of truckers are transporting canisters with toxic waste from the Mamaroneck medical research facility . A wildlife accident occurs on a country road and one of the canisters falls into a river. It drifts downstream and reaches a dam built by beavers . This is where the canister gets caught and a green liquid comes out.

Mary, Zoe and Jenn are going to Ashwood for a weekend getaway and want to stay at Mary's cousin's house there. The house is located on a lake with a beaver dam. The river into which the container fell is right next to the lake, only separated by an isthmus. Jenn and Zoe quickly notice that they have no cell phone reception, but Mary points out the landline in the house.

The girls decide to take a bath in the lake and discover the beaver dam. They meet Smyth, a redneck who saves them from a bear. He warns them to stay away from the beavers. Later that night, Mary's boyfriend Tommy, Zoe's boyfriend Buck, and mutual friend Sam surprise the girls with a visit. The two couples retreat to their respective bedrooms. Jenn is attacked by a beaver in the bathroom. Tommy kills the beaver with a baseball bat. However, Jenn and Mary feel that something is wrong with the beaver because it has no pupils. It later turns out that the beaver survived.

The group goes to the lake to swim the next day. Terrified by what happened last night, Jenn stays behind at the house. It is revealed that Sam cheated on Jenn with Mary and that everyone but Tommy and Jenn knew about it. The beavers attack again. They bite one foot off Buck and scratch Tommy. Jenn is attacked by the same beaver as the night before. She spears the beaver with a knife, but is scratched by him. The beavers destroy the telephone line and there is no longer any way for the clique to communicate with the outside world.

Zombie beavers surround the house and Buck loses a lot of blood. Tommy and Zoe want to take Buck to a hospital in Mary's car. The beavers cut a tree to block the road. Tommy continues on foot to seek help, but is killed by the beavers. Smyth comes to the rescue and brings Buck and Zoe back to the house in his truck. There, Mary, Sam, and Jenn have boarded up all the windows and the door to keep the beavers out, but Zoe, Smyth, and Buck can't get in that way. The three continue to the house of the local Winston Gregorson, who lives there with his wife Myrne. Once there, they find the Gregorsons dead, and their landline connection was also destroyed by the beavers. In the other house, Jenn turns into a zombie beaver. Your tail grows and your teeth elongate. She attacks Mary, but is killed by Sam. Sam and Mary can lock themselves in a room. Mary realizes that if the zombie beavers bite or scratch someone, they too will turn into a zombie beaver. At the Gregorson home, Buck kills Smyth and attacks Zoe, but then succumbs to his injuries. Zoe locks herself in the Gregorson's bedroom and is attacked by the mutated Myrne Gregorson, but is able to escape. The other house has meanwhile been set on fire by a beaver. Jenn manages to kill the mutated Sam.

Zoe returns bleeding to help Mary into Smyth's truck. The mutant Smyth shoots the truck, but Zoe and Mary survive. Jenn runs into them and is accidentally run over by them. Because the further way is blocked by a tree, Mary and Zoe decide to run. Believing Zoe has been bitten, Mary points the gun at her, but turns herself into a zombie beaver. Zoe kills her with an ax. On the street, she sees the same truck drivers who dropped the canister and is accidentally run over by them.

In a post-credit scene, you see a bee flying away from a zombie corpse and returning to its beehive.

criticism

Zombiber is a little pearl of the genre, a trash film that is aware of its crazy story, but presents it with a lot of charm and chutzpah. What the title promises is offered here. "
