State of Affairs is an American television series which premiered on November 17, 2014 on NBC . The series was co-produced by Katherine Heigl , tailored to her as the leading actress. Due to persistently poor ratings, the series ended after a season with 13 episodes. The German-language first broadcast took place in September and October 2015 on the Universal Channel .

CIA officer Charlie Tucker and current US President Constance Payton survived a terrorist attack in Kabul. They are determined to find the attackers and hold them accountable. This search runs like a red thread through all episodes. In each episode, a new case is at the center of Charlie Tucker's work. It ranges from a submarine accident to the kidnapping of 21 girls from Nigeria, the prevention of an imminent political attack, the unmasking of a member of a terrorist organization, to the tracking of missing bombs. At the same time, the CIA officer has to deal with a traitor from within her own ranks.
