Melinda Leigh McGraw (born October 25, 1963 in Nicosia , Cyprus ) is an American actress .

life and career

Melinda McGraw was born in Cyprus to American parents. Her father worked there as a diplomat for the United States Agency for International Development before he took on a senior position in Boston . The youngest of three daughters grew up in Cambridge and Dover near Boston. McGraw began studying at Bennington College in Vermont and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London . She then began working as a stage actress in the West End of London and in other theaters in Great Britain. In 1990 McGraw returned to the United States.

As a television actress, McGraw initially had isolated appearances on series such as Back to the Past , Harry's Wondrous Criminal Court and Seinfeld . McGraw had her first major television role from 1992 to 1994 as Detective Cyd Madison in the comedy series The Police Chief . In the mystery series The X Files - The FBI's Scary Cases , she played Melissa Scully, the terminally ill sister of the main character Dana Scully, in four episodes. In addition, McGraw played the role of campaign worker Jane Braun in The West Wing in 2006 . Furthermore, she had appearances in isolated episodes of well-known series such as Bones - The Bone Hunter , CSI: Vegas , and Desperate Housewives .

As a film actress, McGraw was first seen in 1996 and got a role in the thriller Albino Alligator , which Kevin Spacey directed.
