She acted alongside Betsy Beers as a producer on the series. It premiered in the United States on April 5, 2012 on ABC.

In February 2017, the production of a seventh season was announced. The seventh season is also the last season of the series. The broadcast of the last season began on October 5, 2017 and ended on April 19, 2018 with the series finale.

action

Political advisor and crisis manager Olivia Pope and her team of highly qualified lawyers want to tackle problems before they develop into scandals and prevent worse damage through her intervention.

season 1

The first season focuses on the life of Olivia Pope and her team, which consists of the following members:

  • Stephen Finch, a womanizer,
  • Harrison Wright, a smoothly and efficiently working litigation attorney,
  • Abby Whelan, the corporate investigator,
  • Huck Finn, a hacker with a CIA past, and
  • Quinn Perkins, a new attorney who quickly learns what it's like on a team where crisis management is paramount.

Furthermore, the former clients, the President of the United States , Fitzgerald Grant, and his chief of staff Cyrus Beene are presented, including the relationship between Olivia and her former employer Fitzgerald Grant during the election campaign and his marriage to Mellie Grant. The secret of Amanda Tanner, a former White House intern, also needs to be solved. Stephen Finch leaves the team towards the end of the first season.

season 2

Season two reveals both Quinn's identity and Huck's dark past, and reveals Olivia's darkest secret. The unifying theme of this season is the election campaign for the re-election of the president.

At the beginning of the season there is an assassination attempt on Fitz that changes his life. He wants to divorce Mellie, his wife. Sally Langston was president for a short time after the attack. But since Fitz is fine again after a while, he begins his re-election campaign. Huck is accused of the assassination and goes to jail, but David Rosen helps him out of a tight spot. It turns out that Verna Thornton committed the assassination attempt, which is subsequently killed by Fitz in the hospital. At her funeral, Fitz explains to Olivia that he no longer wants to get a divorce.

During the season Olivia also meets Captain Jake Ballard, who works with Rowan, the boss of B613, and is sent by him to get closer to Olivia. Olivia and her team must find the mole that is providing secret information to the Wise House news. Huck manages to hold Charlie captive, who reveals the identity of the mole. It's Billy Chambers. Meanwhile, Mellie gives her husband an ultimatum. Either he remains loyal to her or she publishes his affair with Olivia Pope. However, Fitz decides for Olivia and thus towards the end of the season it is revealed that Olivia is the secret lover of the president. It is also known that Rowan is Olivia's father.

season 3

At the beginning of the third season, Olivia has to find out what her father is capable of. As a result, Jake and Huck should now find out more about B613. Using the military code "Operation Remington" they find out that Fitz destroyed a plane full of civilians over Iceland, in which Olivia's mother was one of more than 300 victims. Based on the investigation into Operation Remington, the team learns that a passenger was removed from the plane by a Federal Marshal shortly before the flight began. Quinn hangs out more with Charlie, who leads her to kill a security guard who saw the passenger exiting the plane. As a result, Quinn is tortured by Huck and she leaves the team.

It is revealed that the passenger who did not fly is called Maya and is Olivia's mother. Rowan held her captive for the previous 20 years and Olivia was shocked when her mother, believed dead, contacted her. When Rowan finds out that Maya has fled, he puts her on the FBI's “Most Wanted” terrorist list. Olivia arranges a flight to Hong Kong with Maya on the plane, but Maya leaves the plane and Olivia now knows that her mother is really a terrorist, codenamed Marie Wallace. After Fitz detains Rowan at the Pentagon, Olivia wants Fitz to arrest her mother, but Maya manages to escape again.

Meanwhile, Fitz struggles with Josephine "Josie" Marcus, who is winning with the Democratic Party against Senator Samuel Reston and appears to be the first female president of the United States. Cyrus tries his best to badmouth Josie, but fails. After Olivia learns that Fitz destroyed the plane with her mother, she declines the offer to be the campaign manager for Fitz's re-election and becomes Josie's manager. After an incident with Josie's sister, Josie drops out of her campaign.

At the same time, Sally announces that she will also run for the presidential election, with Leo Bergen as her campaign manager. As a result, Fitz named California Governor Andrew Nichols as Vice President. Cyrus tries to blackmail Sally by having James Novak, Cyrus' husband, flirt with Sally's husband, Daniel Douglas. But James sees through his husband's plan and sleeps with Daniel to humiliate Cyrus. When Sally finds out, she kills her husband. So she asks Cyrus for help. David Rosen receives a visit from a woman from the NSA who recorded the conversation between Cyrus and Sally. David tells James about this conversation. The campaign runs into trouble when Sally reveals almost the truth about Daniel's death during a discussion. Cyrus seeks help from Jake, who kills James to hide the truth.

Fitz and Mellie's children, Jerry and Karen Grant, come to the White House to be interviewed, and Olivia realizes they are not happy with their children. Maya and Anden Salif team up with Dominic Bell, who gives them a bomb. Olivia and her team find Dominic's location with the help of Rowan and try to find Maya. In the finale, however, the bomb goes off in a church, which Sally uses to her advantage to ascend. Ultimately, on election day, Olivia and Cyrus are convinced that Fitz will lose. But Rowan assigns Tom Larson to kill Jerry, the son of Fitz and Mellie, which he succeeds. Fitz wins the election.

Harrison Wright also dies at the end of the season due to Olivia's father Rowan and Olivia and Jake leave their past behind them, leave Washington and live a new life in an unknown place.

Season 4

After Olivia and Jake return, Jake is charged with the murder of Jerry Grant and goes to jail. Rowan continues to attempt to pinpoint Jake as the culprit, leading Olivia to investigate. Fitz, Jake and Olivia try to arrest Rowan, but they fail and Olivia's father has to shut down B613 and eliminate all B613 agents. Olivia tries to kill Rowan too, but fails. She is kidnapped.

After Olivia's company closed, Abby, Huck and Quinn had to find new jobs.

Abby is now the press officer for the Wise House and has trouble getting the respect of Cyrus and Fitz, who call her Red because of the color of her hair . A little later in the season, she's even more stressed out with her current ex-husband being nominated as a Virginia Senator. Abby hires Leo Bergen to ruin his campaign.

Huck works in an electronics store and refuses to come back to the company, but he does it anyway. For the past two months he has been persecuting his broken family, but his ex-wife Kim does not allow him to see his son Javi. Nevertheless, Huck and Javi start a friendship through computer games.

Quinn is still in contact with Abby and Huck because she wants to find Olivia. Quinn was working on a case of Olivia's friend Catherine, in which Catherine's daughter was killed and her husband killed himself. The case took a turn when Quinn found out that the killer of their daughter, Kobiak, was working with Elizabeth North and Vice President Andrew Nichols. Your plan is to start a war in western Angola. Elizabeth and Andrew arrange the kidnapping of Olivia Pope, with Fitz doing everything possible to save her. Nichols convinces Fitz to successfully start the war.

Mellie has problems with her son's death. She teams up with Elizabeth North and a little later, after having an affair with Nichols, she realizes the real me and he threatens to publicize her affair.

Cyrus begins to sleep with Michael, a male prostitute. Michael provides Elizabeth with information and Cyrus needs Olivia's help. When pictures of Cyrus and Michael were released, the two got married to end the crisis.

While Olivia is being held captive, Olivia is put up for auction and terrorists and more want her. Olivia tries to manipulate the auction, but it fails and is sold to Russia. Stephen Finch is at the place of the exchange, rescues Olivia and brings her safely to America. Shortly thereafter, Nichols had a stroke, which was probably caused by the collaboration between Mellie and Elizabeth. Olivia is visited by Fitz, but she is disgusted because she does not like his decision to start a war to save her. Olivia returns to her job.

Now Fitz is looking for a new vice president. He thinks of Mellie, but according to Cyrus, this is not a good idea. According to Mellie, Virginia Senator Susan Ross is said to be perfect for the position. After a while, Susan Ross is also the vice president.

Olivia and her team have other cases, including a case of Marcus Walker, who is accused of murdering the mayor's wife with whom he was having an affair. The team finds out that the mayor killed his wife and accused Marcus. But the mayor resigns and Marcus publishes the truth in the media.

In the final, members of a jury for the B613 case are killed. Olivia, her team, and David begin investigating and decide that Rowan is to blame. He also blackmailed Mellie by giving her the members' names before she died to make her feel guilty for not saying anything. Cyrus learns the truth but does not tell Fitz. After advice from Maya, Olivia and Jake decide to disclose B613 to the CIA, but they fail. Rowan is jailed after an allegation. Fitz finds out what his wife and Cyrus did and throws them out of the White House. Ultimately, Elizabeth Cyrus takes place as Chief of Staff. In the final scene, Fitz and Olivia reunite.
