Darby Stanchfield (born April 29, 1971 in Kodiak , Alaska ) is an American actress .

Since 2000, Stanchfield has played various guest roles in series such as Angel - Hunter of Darkness and 24 ; in 2007, she became known to a wider audience through recurring roles on the Daily Soap General Hospital and the end-of-time series Jericho .

From 2012 to 2018 she played the lead role of Abby Whelan in the series Scandal .
