Dylan Christopher Minnette (born December 29, 1996 in Evansville , Indiana ) is an American actor and musician . He became internationally known for his role as Clay Jensen in the series Dead Girls Don't Lie .

Life

Dylan Minnette was born in Evansville , Indiana in December 1996 and moved to Champaign , Illinois a short time later . He later moved to Los Angeles to advance his acting . He had his first roles in 2005 as a guest star in the television series Drake & Josh and Two and a Half Men . From 2005 to 2006 he was seen as the young version of Michael Scofield, played by Wentworth Miller in the action series Prison Break . In 2006 and 2008 he took over in the two television films Santa Claus is on strike and Snow Buddies - Adventures in Alaska minor supporting roles.

His breakthrough came as Clay Norman in TNT - crime series Saving Grace , which he held from 2006 to 2010 in 40 episodes. For this role he was able to win the award in the category Best Actor in a TV Series - Ten Years or Younger at the Young Artist Awards 2008 . In 2008 he played a guest role in Rules of Engagement and in The Mentalist and was also in the direct-to-video film Die Glamor-Clique - Cinderellas Rache , the film adaptation of the first volume of the book series Die Glamor-Clique by Lisi Harrison , as Claire Lyons' ( Ellen Marlow ) younger brother Todd . After a year break, he took on the supporting role of the villain Kenny alongside Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloë Grace Moretz in 2010 in the horror drama Let Me In - the US remake of the Swedish original So sinster die Nacht . Also that year he was a guest actor in the series Medium - Nothing Remains Hidden and in a supporting role as Jack Shephard ( Matthew Fox ) son in Lost . For these three appearances he was nominated in a total of four categories at the Young Artist Awards 2011 , of which he was only able to win the award for best guest actor in a television series - between 14 and 17 years old for his guest role in medium .

He played his second leading role in the NBC series Awake in 2012 as the son of the main character Michael Britten (played by Jason Isaacs ). However, the series only had a season with 13 episodes. He subsequently appeared in guest roles in television series such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , Major Crimes , Nikita (all 2012) and Save Me (2013). In Denis Villeneuve's 2013 thriller Prisoners , he portrayed Ralph Dover , the son of Hugh Jackman's character. That same year he starred as teenage Henry in the drama Labor Day . He also stood in front of the camera as Anthony Cooper for the film comedy The Coopers - Worse Goes - an adaptation of the original children's book of the same name by Judith Viorst from 1972 - which premiered in October 2014. In the third and fourth seasons of the ABC series Scandal , he played a major supporting role as Jerry Grant . In the 2017 Netflix drama series Dead Girls Don't Lie - an adaptation of Jay Asher 's novel of the same name - he played one of the leading roles as Clay Jensen alongside Katherine Langford as Hannah Baker.

In addition to acting, he is also a member of the band The Feaver , which consists of Minnette, Zack Mendenhall, Cole Preston and Braeden Lemasters . The band won a competition between the bands sponsored by the Californian radio station KYSR in 2010 and then performed on the 2011 Warped Tour and in the nightclubs The Roxy and Whiskey a Go Go . The band has been performing under the name Wallows since 2017, now without Mendenhall .
