Wentworth Earl Miller III (born June 2, 1972 in Chipping Norton , Oxfordshire ) is an English- born American actor , screenwriter and model .

Life

Wentworth Miller studied English literature at Princeton University . He made his first steps into the film and television business in 1996 as a production assistant. But just a year later he made the leap in front of the camera. At first he played rather smaller roles in television series such as Time of Your Life and Buffy - The Vampire Slayer . Miller had his first leading role in 2002 in the television multi-part series Dinotopia .

With the offer for the role of Michael Scofield in the American television series Prison Break , he made the breakthrough and was this at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards in the category of a Drama Series Best Actor nomination. In 2008 Miller received the golden Bravo Otto in Nuremberg. He currently lives in Los Angeles . In addition to acting for the aforementioned series, he appeared with Mariah Carey in two of her music videos: It's Like That and We Belong Together .

His German dubbing voice is often Gerrit Schmidt-Foss .

Private life

After being invited to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival in August 2013 , Miller stated that as a homosexual he did not want to participate in the festival because of the discriminatory laws in Russia .
